Medical Technologist, Laboratory Information Systems Specialist

The County of Los Angeles is seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist, Laboratory Information Systems Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for designing, managing, and maintaining clinical or public health laboratory information systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops, designs, and formats management reports utilizing a report-writer program.
- Conducts system-verification tests to ensure the operational accuracy of data transmission related to database/client and equipment interfaces and test code reproducibility.
- Acts as a liaison between the laboratory unit and other units within the medical facility, department, or external agencies and clients concerning problems with the laboratory information system.
- Assists in implementing, supporting, and may validate electronic interfaces linking the laboratory information system to other information systems or instruments.
- Assists in conducting training programs for laboratory personnel in the use of laboratory information systems.
- Analyzes and oversees and may revise existing laboratory information system applications and associated test code definitions for analytical tests on human, animal, and environmental specimens.
- Maintains and updates the master test file, user and client profiles, procedure and security clearance files, and access user levels.
- Develops and documents backup procedures to ensure the viability and accessibility of laboratory information and operations in the event of system malfunction.
Requirements:
- Three years' experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Public Health Microbiologist in a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)-certified laboratory.
- Los Angeles County Department of Health Services: Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued by the California Department of Public Health.
- Los Angeles County Department of Public Health: Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Limited Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License, or Public Health Microbiologist Certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using Cerner System for managing hospital laboratory reports.
