Sugarfina is seeking a Director of Stores to lead our field teams. We are seeking an experienced leader with high energy, excellent communication, and creative problem-solving skills. You will coach and mentor the Store Managers, develop business strategies, collaborating regularly with leadership and cross-functional partners. In this role you’ll be the primary bridge between our stores and HQ teams, collaborating to maximize performance by building a customer-first approach in our retail stores.

Your success will be measured by tangible results, including store sales, profitability, and efficient back-end operations. You will provide innovative solutions that support key initiatives. This role manages multiple P&Ls, defines priorities, and drives operational improvements and efficiencies by identifying opportunities and leading cross-functional initiatives. The Director of Stores will report to the CEO.


Operational Leadership:

  • Lead a team of Boutique Managers throughout California as well as Boston, NYC, and Vancouver.
  • Effectively lead, develop, and support the sales and/or operations of Sugarfina stores to meet and/or exceed sales and profitability targets.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess store performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Establish and enforce operational standards, policies, and procedures to uphold brand consistency and customer satisfaction.
  • Continuously identify and execute on opportunities to drive store sales and the in-store experience.
  • Work closely with our HQ partners to achieve store level targets, omni-channel objectives, and develop incentives to maximize performance.
  • Partner closely with Sugarfina marketing and community teams to develop multi-channel initiatives to drive traffic, increase AOV, and generate buzz around our stores.
  • Ensure Visual Merchandising strategies align with company expectations and support sales targets.
  • Assess business trends and actively partner with corporate stakeholders to strategize local growth and drive business initiatives.
  • Partner with Sugarfina planning team to optimize store inventory, operational processes, and tools.
  • Be the gatekeeper of Sugarfina’s culture and values at the store level.


Team Development

  • Recruit, train, and mentor store managers and operational staff to ensure a high level of competence and adherence to company standards.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture across all corporate stores.
  • Help foster a high-performance culture and continuous improvement mindset among Store & District Managers including data collection, testing, and ongoing training.
  • Work closely which each store GM to ensure they are learned on metrics and held accountable to meet financial goals related to their P&L
  • Drive profitability by ensuring our field members are meeting sales goals, managing costs, delivering outstanding customer service, and providing helpful insights back to the corporate team.
  • Establish performance goals for all direct reports and monitor performance on a continuous basis.
  • Partner with the Human Resources team to ensure that Sugarfina’s core values, best practices and benefits are extending to our retail teams to ensure a cohesive employee experience.
  • Collaborate with HR and Retail Ops teams to consistently refresh and enhance training materials & in-store activations.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of retail experience, including high-level leadership with beloved brands.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Retail Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in a senior operational role within a multi-unit retail or franchise environment.
  • Demonstrated success in opening and managing a network of retail stores.
  • Have strong organizational, project management, and time management skills to successfully implement strategic initiatives from initial idea through execution.
  • Experienced new store development from construction to post opening including managing relationships with contractors and vendors, and familiarity with any specifications of California Food Retail codes.
  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally to deliver major initiatives, with an understanding of customer experience, data analytics, growth marketing, and product.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be familiar health code requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and earn trust across all levels of an organization with a track record of building high-performing and highly engaged teams.
  • Experience leading and coaching teams, in both virtual and real-life environments.
  • Possess a welcoming and helpful attitude and the ability to lead and hold others accountable.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver on various projects, perform well under pressure, and excel in providing reliable and clear communications.
  • Relentless, entrepreneurial, execution mindset.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems.
  • You’re a team player with a "no task is too small" attitude.
  • Clear, concise, and transparent communication style, both verbal and written
  • In office 3-4 days per week
  • Willing to travel periodically as needed.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Learn and adapt to current technology and can accurately handle POS functions.
