Job Overview: The Sales Leader – Business Development manager will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities while managing and expanding relationships with existing clients. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the structural steel industry and strong skills in relationship management, negotiation, and sales closing. The ideal candidate will be proactive, results-oriented, and able to work collaboratively with various internal teams to achieve business goals.


Key Responsibilities:

Relationship Management:

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients, including general contractors, architects, engineers, and developers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, addressing their needs and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups and meetings to understand clients' evolving requirements and gather feedback.


Business Development:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the structural steel fabrication and installation market.
  • Develop and execute strategies to expand the company’s client base and market presence.
  • Network within industry events, conferences, and trade shows to build and maintain industry connections.


Opportunity Identification and Proposal Management:

  • Research and identify potential projects and clients that align with the company’s capabilities and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with the project management and engineering teams to prepare and submit competitive proposals.
  • Ensure timely and accurate response to requests for proposals (RFPs) and requests for quotations (RFQs).


Deal Closure and Negotiation:

  • Lead negotiations with prospective clients to close deals and secure contracts.
  • Work closely with the legal and finance teams to finalize terms and conditions of contracts.
  • Monitor and manage the sales pipeline to ensure all opportunities are effectively pursued and closed.


Market Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform business development strategies.
  • Provide regular reports on sales performance, market conditions, and business development activities to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of clients, opportunities, and industry contacts.


Collaboration and Team Support:

  • Work closely with internal teams including project management, engineering, and finance to ensure smooth execution of projects and client satisfaction.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve service offerings and enhance competitive positioning.
  • Mentor and support junior sales team members as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in sales and business development within the structural steel fabrication and installation industry.
  • Strong understanding of the structural steel market, industry trends, and key players.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Results-driven with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
