Data Center Technicians needed for an 8+ Month Contract in San Antonio, TX (2 openings)

Our client is looking for 2 Data Center Technicians to perform the following duties:

Support technology deployments, upgrades, refreshes, decommissions (50% of time will be spent on these duties)

  • Asset Management – document and update asset details, operational environments, and functional roles for all IT assets in the Data Center Information Management System
  • Install and document data center infrastructure (e.g., cabinets, racks, patch panels, copper cabling, fiber cabling)
  • Install, document, and configure compute, network, and storage systems
  • Install, test, validate, & document firmware updates

Support Incidents & Changes (25% of time will be spent on these duties)

  • Analyze, prioritize, and respond to alerts, notifications, and requests that come to designated inboxes, phones, dashboards, and intake systems
  • Create and update Incident Records, coordinate with Technology Operations Center, and vendors; escalate based on exposure, risk, and skillsets needed, leverage on call resources
  • Interact with third party hardware and/or software vendors by initiating and supporting vendor services as necessary and validating repair activities of vendors, seek status updates, coordinate RMAs, and escalate as needed
  • Manage, Coordinate, and Audit Change Requests

Provide technical training for client's employees as identified by data center leadership (10% of time will be spent on these duties)

Support general data center operations responsibilities (15% of time will be spent on these duties)

  • Perform periodic walkthroughs/site surveys
  • Assist with vendor visits; sign in/out, escort during visits
  • Review inboxes, alert consoles, and SMS notifications
  • Other duties as identified by data center leadership

Qualifications

  • 4 Years Experience working in a data center
  • 3 Years Experience working with third party IT vendors and/or software/hardware suppliers
  • 3 Years Experience writing technical documentation or standard operating procedures related to IT technical support or deployment
  • 2 Years Experience in an IT role requiring interaction with senior management
  • 2 Years Experience rack, stack, cabling hardware in IT racks/cabinets
  • 2 Years Experience troubleshooting physical connectivity issues (copper and fiber)
  • 2 Years Experience working with structured cabling infrastructure
