KDA is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic individual to serve as Senior Interior Designer . The successful candidate will be a part of KDA’s Leadership team to win, design and lead teams of architects and interior designers on projects across a diverse set of market sectors including Education, Science & Technology, Corporate, Healthcare, Civic/Cultural, State and Federal Projects.

 

This candidate will collaborate on multiple innovative projects focused on all aspects of design from Programming to CD and CA. Seeking self-starter, hard working, detail oriented and well-rounded architect(s) to work on all phases of design with projects ranging from education (Higher Education), science and technology, healthcare, commercial, mixed-use and Government projects. We offer a dynamic team atmosphere and flexible office location in Washington  DC. 


Senior Interior Designer Position

Working with us, you will:

·      Lead day-to-day operation for studio design staff and project managers.

·      Manage multiple projects by negotiating project scope, fees, job production and quality, fee management and collection, monitoring project accounts as well as establishing and executing project work plans.

·      Meet with owners and user groups to determine program and planning requirements.

·      Lead A/E team to prepare, coordinate, and complete construction documents packages.

·      Lead day-to-day construction administration activities including coordination with the contractor, owner, and consultants to maintain project progress.

·      Mentor, provide oversight, and monitor the work performed by junior staff.

·      Establish and execute project work plan and staffing requirements.

·      Communicate with all project participants, internal staff, consultants, clients, owners, contractors and jurisdictions in an effective and collaborative manner.

·      Develop trusted relationships with clients.

·      Participate in recruiting and performance management of staff.

·      Participate in business development efforts through learning/understanding the local client market, participating in professional organizations and supporting proposal development and interviews. An ideal candidate has:

·      A Master’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture; or professional degree in Architecture or Interior Design.

·      Significant project experience in some combination of science and technology, high-education, commercial, institutional and renovation work

·      High level of drive and collaborative spirit to help grow and mentor a dynamic studio with engaged team members

·      Capable of meeting design excellence goals while meeting management goals and project budgets. Must have the proven initiative to teach and train other designers and interdisciplinary AE project teams in the essentials of design excellencies.

 

·      Minimum 10+ years of progressive professional experience leading medium to large-scale projects of varying types and complexity.

·      For interior designer, Interior design certification (NCIDQ) is must.

·      Use technology and methodologies to create innovative approaches to building design

·      Consistently strive to improve technical quality of work product by keeping abreast of new technologies, changes in building codes, and advances in the industry

·      Work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment to produce integrated project documents, and insure integrated design approaches & solutions

·      Demonstrated effectiveness in working in a multi-disciplinary team setting, collaborating, mentoring and client satisfaction.

·      Excellent leadership and mentoring skills.

·      Excellent writing and communication skills.

·      Must be capable of leading a team and making client presentations.

·      Ability to collaborate and integrate with existing team.

·      An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

·      Collaborate and deliver project solutions based on market expertise and deep understanding of client goals

·      Thorough knowledge of the entire project delivery process and ability to lead design efforts through all project stages, including leadership with the client, contractors, and internal team.

·      Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Bluebeam, Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
