Designs and builds RESTful applications using Spring Boot and Spring MVC. Develops Application Programming Interface (API) using Spring framework. Designs and develops common Libraries and SDKs for consumption at the business-unit level to enable reusability, ensure best industry practices, and allow ease of software development, using Java and Python. Designs and develops software applications using Cloud-native technologies and stacks. Draws on in-depth knowledge of the business or function to provide business unit-wide solutions by developing complex, multi-faceted software applications. Researches and recommends new technologies in support of the strategic direction of the business unit and participates in the research and recommendation of appropriate models, methods, tools, and technologies to achieve business-unit-wide solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Translates and incorporates business vision and strategy to architectural strategy recommendations at the functional level.
  • Participates in high-level, cross- functional architecture design teams.
  • Identifies and consults with internal and external technical resources to produce cross-company strategic designs.
  • Consults on development and delivery of major technology initiatives for the business unit.
  • Consults on deployment of major project deliverables.
  • Consults on the documentation of major technology application.
  • Oversees the technical implementation of cross-divisional or company architectural components.
  • Initiates and drives project or strategy discussions with users or external groups to resolve issues.
  • Sets vision, goals, and direction of team/organization.
  • Plans and leads organization-wide initiatives.
  • Provides leadership, technical supervision, and expertise to multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex organization-wide projects.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Researches and recommends new technologies.
  • Works across groups to identify opportunities for organization-wide technology initiatives.
  • Regularly provides guidance, training, and coaching to other team members for performance and career development.
  • Identifies and plans for future resource needs.
  • Determines technical approaches at a strategic level for the business unit.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and six (6) years of experience as a Director, Cloud Engineering (or closely related occupation) planning, designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining API management services within a financial services environment.

Or, alternatively, Master s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience as a Director, Cloud Engineering (or closely related occupation) planning, designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining API management services within a financial services environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (\u201CDE\u201D) supporting the full application development lifecycle -- analysis, design, development, test, and deployment -- using Spring Boot (v3.x and v2.x), Python (v3.x), Node JS, GitHub/Stash, Artifactory, JIRA, Jenkins, Sonar, Veracode, Concourse, and uDeploy.
  • DE creating Cloud-based applications using data warehouse concepts (Snowflake) and Amazon Web Services (AWS); writing CloudFormation Templates and Jenkins pipelines; deploying applications on the Cloud using Jenkins pipelines; debugging Cloud applications using CloudFormation Templates and Datadog logs and traces; and tracking Cloud costs and searching for optimization opportunities, using Cloudability.
  • DE building effective search experiences and translating them into enterprise applications using enterprise search platforms -- Lucidworks Fusion, OpenSearch, and Apache Solr; and monitoring and supporting enterprise applications deployed to AWS, using Datadog, CloudWatch, and Splunk.
  • DE defining and managing product vision and strategy based on market research and customer needs; creating and prioritizing product backlogs, using Jira and Jira Align; participating in continuous planning using the Agile methodology; creating and maintaining Roadmaps; and determining direction based on customer usage tracking.
