The College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University seeks exceptional early-career clinician-scientists to apply for a temporary (12 months) full-time clinical faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the . This position offers an exciting opportunity to join an active academic program and contribute to the mission of the College and the Division of Periodontology through the pursuit of research, teaching, and service. Applicants with expertise in clinical studies, novel diagnostic imaging, digital technology implementation, translational clinical trials, and wound healing are preferred and especially encouraged to apply. The primary responsibilities of this position will be the scholarly pursuit of research and funding opportunities, with other duties including support of the overall mission of the division through teaching and service, contribution to the college’s continuing education programs, and practice in the college’s affiliated intramural ; although this practice is optional, pending on credentials, qualification, and board requirements.

The successful candidate will assist in collecting clinical data from research projects and performing didactic as well as clinical teaching. Clinical Research studies people, data, or tissue samples to understand health and disease. Clinical Research helps find new and better ways to detect, diagnose, treat, and prevent disease. Types of clinical research include observational and interventional clinical studies. Teaching may include didactic as well as clinical instructions in predoctoral classroom and clinics.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Education and Experience Requirements

: Qualified candidates must have a DDS/DMD and/or equivalent degree, a certificate of advanced education in periodontics from a CODA-accredited or international program and an MS/or PhD degree. Candidates also must be eligible for a full or limited teaching license by the Ohio State Dental Board. Information on state dental licensure is available at the website.

The College

The College of Dentistry provides comprehensive patient care in an unparalleled learning environment with internationally recognized faculty and a supportive network of alumni and friends. In addition, our research programs provide students another dimension beyond classroom and clinical education. Students and faculty members are able to participate in both clinical and laboratory research in areas such as dental materials science, oral and maxillofacial pathology, hard tissue biology, microbiology, neuroscience, and immunology.

Our college is the only state-supported dental school in Ohio and consists of ten academic divisions representing all major dental specialties.

The divisions offer both patient care services and academic programs, allowing dentists to train as specialists. Also, our Outreach and Engagement activities include over 60 active programs and more than 42 extra mural sites, which continue to expand.

Department Information

Initiated in 1949, the postdoctoral program in advanced periodontics at Ohio State has always been a combination of clinical training with graduate education. As the oldest continuously operating periodontal graduate program in the nation, it has been responsible for educating not only quality clinicians but also nationally and internationally renowned academicians.
