The Callier Center provides a nurturing, learning environment for infants through kindergarten Age. We focus on developing every child’s specific needs, including communication and language skills, physical abilities, emotional and social growth and cognitive development. Our Program fosters an environment in which children have the opportunity to communicate, play and develop friendships with other children whose interests, abilities, levels of hearing and methods of communication may be different than their own.

Create, implement and facilitate a comprehensive program for infant and toddler children (0-3) including developmentally appropriate curriculum that is relationship based, child driven and provides on-going developmental assessment within a team of primary caregivers. Provide safe, engaging and exploratory learning environment. Maintain on-going dialogue and collaboration with families to support children’s optimum development. Provide leadership and mentoring support for teaching team, part-time staff, substitutes and volunteers. Minimum Education and Experience An associate’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or elementary education. An applicant can also satisfy the requirement by holding an associate’s degree in any field and having completed at least 36 college credit hours of early childhood education, child development, or elementary education coursework. Preferred Education and Experience Knowledge of NAEYC accreditation criteria, knowledge of HighScope curriculum; experience with infant and/or toddler age children, experience as a lead teacher; effective interpersonal skills.

Successful candidate will be exposed to the following elements in this position and must possess
certain physical and mental capabilities:

Must be able to: Sit, stand, lift (up to 40 pounds), stoop, squat, climb, run, bend, push/pull, hold, reach, twist, turn, walk, stretch, get up/down from the floor and child sized furniture Provide consistent visual/auditory/proximity supervision of children and environment Move quickly Multi-task Handle demands of children, colleagues and parents Be Patient Have constant mental alertness and agility Have a positive outlook Have emotional stability Environmental Conditions Chemicals Smells/bodily fluids Illness/contagious disease Hot and cold temperatures/UV/Sun Noise Crying Messy supplies and busy classrooms Florescent lighting Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide educational activities in an appropriately designed for birth to 3 year old setting; assist in mainstreaming activities to include special populations; provide parent conferences on a regular basis; develop assessment plans for periodic application; plan staff development exp; other duties as assigned. Physical Activities Working Conditions Additional Information Must have a negative TB test. 24 hours of approved training hours are required annually.
