JOB DESCRIPTION

Actalent is looking for a full time medical assistant to work in the back office in Santa Paula making $22/hr

Minimum Qualifications:

Medical Assistant diploma or certificate of completion from a medical assistant training program Currently certified as a Medical Assistant by a recognized certifying organization or eligible to sit for exam within 30 days of hire. Acceptable certifications are CMA, CCMA, NCMA, RMT, AAMA ABROE.  High School Diploma or GED BLS Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual in Spanish Knowledge of medical terminology

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Safety - Patient environment kept clean and orderly. Understands correct response to emergencies. Standard precautions are followed at all times. Reports to supervisor any and all safety concerns and incidents. Sends equipment to engineering for needed repairs. Responsible for the observation and reporting of all patients in assigned areas. Patient’s status changes are reported to the physician and nurse.

2. Performs patient testing and vitals including blood pressure, height/weight, temperature, head circumference and body length measurements, and records these accurately in the patient’s record.

3. Maintains exam room stock items and linen supplies. Orders supplies and repairs using computerized ordering system. Notifies supervisor of needed items to order.

4. Prepares equipment and supplies for patient examination.

5. Prepares patient for examination.

6. Performs routine urine dip testing and other CLIA waived testing including rapid flu, rapid strep, Hpylori, blood glucose, pregnancy testing, and other CLIA waived testing after successfully completing competency training by the RN including return demonstration and signature of the physician.

7. Records medications, test results, and other notes accurately in the patient record.

8. Performs other work in the practice management and electronic health record systems as required for patient care and follow up.

9. Prepares specimens that include urine and stool for testing.

11. Assists with data collection for quality improvement programs.

12. Administration of medications and immunizations as per provider’s specific written instructions and Clinic’s Policies and Procedures.

13. Queues up orders in electronic medical record system, as per provider’s specific written instructions and Clinic’s Policies and Procedures.

14. Always treats patients with dignity and respect while maintaining privacy and confidentiality and maintains a professional, pleasant attitude toward physicians, staff and public

15. Precepts M.A. students by assisting with orientation and checklists.

16. Orients new M.A. employees to the clinic.

17. Routine tasks are performed in a swift, timely, and self-motivated manner as noted in job description.

18. Assist with procedures and perform ve1nipuncture under the scope of a medical assistant.

19. Paperwork tasks are completed accurately.

20. Procedures are prioritized and done correctly.

21. Answers telephones promptly and courteously.

22. Maintains the flow of patients in the clinic

23. Readily accepts assignments in a cooperative manner.

24. Maintains exam room stock items and linen supplies. Orders supplies and repairs using computerized ordering system. Notifies supervisor of needed items to order.
