We are looking for a qualified Accountant to report to senior accounting staff with experience assisting with multiple duties in regards to accounting functions for Schools or similar operations. This individual will be responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting for our Charter Schools within established deadlines.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Prepares monthly financial statements for multiple entities, which includes the following:
    • Reconcile bank statements and cash accounts.
    • Prepares and posts required journal entries.
    • Reviews & reconciles all balance sheet accounts.
    • Prepares summary of significant events and budget variances.
    • Prepares supporting documentation including but not limited to balance sheet schedules and other reconciliations for financial statements and annual budget process.
    • Process incoming invoices ensuring correct entry into accounting systems and accurate check printing and distribution. Process incoming payments ensuring correct entry into accounting systems.
  • Complete daily/month-end closing and reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts and prepare daily Treasury Report.
  • Works closely with independent auditors during annual financial statement audit preparing schedules and invoices, providing explanations of supporting materials and procedures.
  • Assist with all audits, internal or external, as applicable, related to Financial Statements, Sales Tax, Workers Comp., etc.
  • Maintains records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting material; updates records as necessary.
  • Posts accounts to the General Ledger including but not limited to the following:
    • Accounts Receivable.
    • Cash Receipts.
    • Accounts Payable.
    • Cash Disbursements.
    • Payroll.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  • Communicates with co-workers, management, clients, schools, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Skills and Knowledge:
  • Prior experience in Charter Schools or general K-12 sector preferred.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment toward the position and the mission of the company.
  • Supports the company’s goals and strategic priorities.
  • Demonstrates ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Prepares and analyzes complex financial reports, including writing report sections, integrating content, and formatting business documents.
  • Establishes a set of operating principles and routines; driving projects to completion, while insisting on the highest level of quality.
  • Ability to consistently be at work, arrive on time, follow instructions, respond to management direction, and solicit feedback to improve performance.
  • Looks for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and strives to research, evaluate and implement best practices.
  • Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements for K-12 schools and charter school law.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher in Accounting or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience with all versions of QuickBooks.
  • Computer Basics.
  • Proficiency in software as well as Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
