Structural Component Systems, Inc. of Fremont, NE is actively seeking full-time Yard Assistant . You will be responsible for keeping SCS grounds and adjoining public property in excellent working condition as well as keeping track of inventory at the plant, including maintaining an organized inventory yard and warehouse, using inventory control software. This position works Monday- Friday with no weekends starting at $20 -$22/hr with an increase every 6 months, based on performance. Higher starting pay for highly experienced forklift operators.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 years of forklift experience preferred.
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Must be detail orientated and precise while operating a forklift in tight quarters in a full yard
  • Operate forklifts in safe manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, phone manners and the ability to work with others
  • Basic reading and mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Good organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Experience operating bobcat and tractor
  • Ability to read and write, and comprehend English.
  • Warehouse experience helpful

Job Responsibilities

  • Operating a bobcat skid steer and tractor to do the following:
    • Filling holes
    • Drag and tamp the yard,
    • Moving large objects
    • Plowing snow
  • Sweep streets at least weekly
  • Assist with miscellaneous projects. These projects will be both inside and outside the plant and may include (but not limited to):
    • Installation of production lines and safety guards
    • Painting
    • Replacing lighting/ballasts and other light electrical
  • Master the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to ensure compliance and accuracy of SCS inventory.
  • Assure accurate inventories and cycle counts are conducted on all material in a timely basis; coordinate and assist in inventory counts and audits as needed.
  • Notify the purchasing department of missing inventory for review and action. Research and determine root cause for missing inventory and report findings to management.
  • Become familiar with all inventory stock locations and identify which products are in overstock areas. Communicate with logistics supervisors when overstock items can be moved to dedicated locations and/or receive direction from logistics supervisors to move items.
  • Ensure COMPLETE and ACCURATE documentation of all materials.
  • Assist, when necessary, with the unloading and loading of trucks and railcars and ensure material is stored in assigned inventory location
  • Assign storage tags and locations. Fill out and return paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that any questionable material received is immediately segregated and identified prior to being released for use and all claim material is returned to source in a timely manner and in accordance with applicable procedures such as communication with purchasing and accounting departments.
  • Operate fork lift to move raw material in and out of inventory and into and between work centers ensuring adequate supply of raw materials is available for production needs.
  • Evaluate material requirements, including but not limited to, steel beams, i-joists, hardware and miscellaneous materials, and ensure an adequate supply is available in a timely manner. Alert purchasing department as needed.
  • Identify and isolate weathered materials to prevent usage until released.
  • Audit material covers (tarps) and prevention of materials exposed to the elements.

  • Outdoors 100% of the time, all weather.
  • Repetitive lifting up to 75 pounds
