The Department of Humanities at the University of Charleston invites applications to join our team as an Adjunct Photography Instructor for an online 7-week course offered twice a semester focusing on enhancing photography skills. The course emphasizes the creative aspects of photography, such as composition, lighting, perspective, and portraits.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in fine arts with a focus on photography or commensurate professional experience Familiarity with smart devices and their photographic capabilities

Responsibilities :

Engage and inform the students about the weekly lessons to help students’ understanding of photography principles Reinforce weekly assignments that challenge students to apply concepts learned in the course Hold weekly class discussions to help students understand the topic and focus of the assignments (1 hour per week) Provide timely constructive feedback on students’ work to support their growth and improvement Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment conducive to exploration and creativity Respond to students’ questions and concerns in a timely manner Establish weekly office hours virtually for students to request one-on-one tutoring, answer questions, or discuss concerns (1 to 2 hours per week) Prepare a syllabus for the Photography course with Simple Syllabus Maintain the Photography Course on eLearn (LMS) Keep accurate records and grades in a timely manner Participate in assessment activities as instructed Other duties as assigned
