Qualifications
/Skills: Effective interpersonal skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Mentally and physically fit Sixteen years of age or older American Red Cross Swim training (employer provided) Ability to become an American Red Cross certified lifeguard or water safety instructor (possibly provided by employer)Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED in English
Experience :
Lifeguard experience (preferred)
Previous experience working with children
Prior competitive swimming experience is desired but not required
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate and acceptable

Technical Skills, Responsibilities, and Duties

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Uphold and adhere to safety rules. Prevent accidents through the enforcement of policies, regulations, and ordinances governing the conduct of persons using the swimming pool. Maintain discipline of swimmers by asking for assistance from the Head Lifeguard and/or Aquatics Director. Observe for accidents occurring in the water, on the deck, or on diving equipment. Enter the water to rescue persons in trouble, resuscitate swimmers who may need it, administer first aid to the injured, and call 911 for serious accident cases. Report definite or potential hazards and unsafe conditions to the Head Lifeguard and/or Aquatics Manager. Maintain an acceptable appearance at all times, with regard to both uniform and personal hygiene. Display professionalism, courtesy, and helpfulness to all pool patrons and fellow employees in the performance of duties. Keep abreast of innovative practices. Be adaptable and flexible in acceptance of changes in techniques and procedures. Maintain a professional level of confidentiality regarding all district matters. Support the goals and objectives of the district and follow district policies. Perform other duties as assigned. Clerical work as directedJanitorial duties as directed
