Key Responsibilities:

Guidance Curriculum Development

  • Design, organize, and implement structured group lessons aligned with the district's guidance curriculum aimed at enhancing students' interpersonal skills, personal health, safety, and post-secondary planning.
  • Utilize effective instructional strategies to teach guidance curriculum components, catering to diverse student populations and their unique learning needs.
  • Collaborate with students, staff, parents, and the community to prioritize guidance curriculum needs, integrating lessons across various subject areas.
  • Create a well-rounded curriculum through engaging activities, guest speakers, and innovative delivery methods, including the use of technology.

Responsive Services

  • Employ developmental guidance theories and techniques to address student challenges and provide timely support.
  • Implement proactive measures to eliminate barriers affecting students' educational and personal growth.
  • Provide remediation strategies to assist students in navigating difficult situations, offering constructive feedback for future decision-making.
  • Support students in crisis by collaborating with staff, parents, and community resources to ensure a safe educational environment.
  • Deliver ongoing support through individual counseling, small group sessions, and referrals to external services as needed.
  • Act as a neutral mediator in resolving interpersonal conflicts and incidents of bullying.

Individual Planning

  • Develop age-appropriate counseling services while providing relevant information to students, educators, and administrators.
  • Assist students and families in tracking academic, career, personal, and social progress throughout their educational journey.
  • Advocate for diversity and equitable access to educational programs for all student demographics.
  • Interpret assessment results, provide career guidance, assist with academic transitions, and support students in goal setting and planning for post-secondary education.

System Support

  • Analyze assessment data to effectively address student needs.
  • Conduct program evaluations for improvement and systemic change.
  • Engage in school improvement initiatives and training for parents and staff.
  • Clearly communicate the management system of the counseling program to all stakeholders.
  • Participate in professional development to enhance counseling competencies and stay informed on best practices.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
  • Follow established safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Supervisory Duties:

Oversee counseling aides and administrative staff.
