 The Vocational Instructorperforms instructional services of vocational and/or occupationalsubjects, such as business, computers/technology, carpentry,plumbing and trades which are designed to help inmates/studentslearn specified subject matter and acquire vocationalskills.

  • Prepare course objectives following curriculumstandards and applicable requirements bycontract.
  • Plan and document a program of study that meets theindividual needs and abilities of students.
  • Provide instruction using handouts, texts, audiovisualaids and other materials. Evaluate students' performance and issueprogress reports as required.  Assist students with additionalinstruction asneeded.
 

Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma, GEDcertification or equivalent is required. Must be eligible for or becertified by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, by theNational Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) orby a comparable entity in the subject areas ofinstruction.Three years of full-time,wage-earning experience in the subject vocational trade or incareer readiness skills to include technical trade experience; orthree years of experience as a certified instructor teaching in thespecific trade or subject area isrequired.  Continued employmentin this position will be contingent upon obtaining and/ormaintaining required agencycredentials.Must have the abilityto give clear instructions in the trade and/or vocationalarea.  Experience in Microsoft Officeapplications is required.  
  • A valid driver's license isrequired.
  • Minimum age requirement: Must be atleast 18 years of age.
