Marketing & Communication Manager

Duty Schedule:
8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, occasional travel and hours after hours.
Summary/Objective of Position:
Marketing & Communications Officer is responsible for directing marketing, public relations, communication activities, including supervisory of the College radio station KXWR for Dine College. The Manager shall lead the department to collaborate with management to set a marketing plan using the College radio station, College Website, College Publication and Social Media. The Marketing & Communication Manager is also responsible for approving marketing programs ad modifying requirements for marketing and communications efforts.
Description of Essential Functions of the Position

Oversee the staff and the operation budget. Participate in the annual budget planning to achieve all marketing, public relations, video production, and communication goals. Create a team of professionals to develop and implement marketing campaigns including digital marketing (web), social media marketing, print material marketing to enhance the reputation of the College and appeal to the current and potential students.
Provide leadership and some creative skills in the respective areas: Web Development, social media campaigns, on-line digital marketing, editing skills, video production, and graphic content production.
Monitor higher education market changes and adjust marketing strategies accordingly to remain competitive. Work closely with other Vice President, Provost and executive team in soliciting marketing strategy ideas. Develop guidelines and/or policies for marketing, communication, public relations, social media, and other guidelines necessary for the operation of the department. Develop and update annual marketing plan and implement the plan. Revise guidelies and policies as necessary to meet the needs of the College. Serve on the College's data team.
Responsible for external communication such as press releases and coordination of press inquires. Will work closely with the Marketing & Communications Officer for coordination of public relations events on behalf of the college. Create college literature and other forms of communication. Coach staff and faculty with effective communication with the public and with employees. Help to clarify the organization's point of view to their main constituency.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Minimum:
Must have a minimum of five years demonstrated successful experience leading marketing efforts, including progressive supervisory experience. Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing and/or Public Relations.
Preferred:
Marketing and Communication, preferable in a competitive higher education setting, including experience pitching stories and publicizing news and events. Master's Degree.
Knowledge:
Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe graphics design tools, web development process and use of on-line social platforms. Must have knowledge and experience in higher education. Must have knowledge and ability to use photo editing software.
Must have knowledge of social media, marketing, advertising and media relations. Understanding of design principles to maximize impact of message.

Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:
Physical requirement: Moderate physical activity. May require physical effort lifting up to 20 pounds and some extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking. Very limited exposure to physical risk.
Work Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment. Traveling may be required.
Other Requirement(s):
Oral fluency in Navajo is highly desirable, but not mandatory. Must have and maintain a valid state issued driver's license to travel on behalf of the Office of the President and successfully pass a background check. Other licensing may be required.
