Executive Director of Operations

The Chief of Staff is a key member of the President's Cabinet, providing leadership and operational oversight to the Office of the President in fulfilling the College's mission and goals. This role requires a highly skilled and experienced individual who can effectively support the President on a wide range of strategic issues.
Key Responsibilities- Handles matters of policy and institutional importance on behalf of the executive.
- Supports and sustains a culture of service, professionalism, and continuous improvement in the executive's organizational units.
- Actively participates in building the Diné College philosophy by engaging in communicative, collaborative, and respectful relationships with those serving in leadership roles at Diné College.
- Provides leadership and operational oversight for the Office of the President, conveying an atmosphere of excellence and distinction, in support of the College's mission, vision, and goals.
The ideal candidate will possess a Master's Degree plus two years of experience at the executive leadership level. A Doctoral Degree is preferred. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of College structure, policies, and practices, as well as proven expertise in planning and executing operational plans, managing projects and/or programs, budgeting, and cost control.
They will also have a general understanding of the external environment and how it affects academia in general and Diné College in particular, including political, legal, environmental, educational, financial, and social influences. The ability to work independently, take initiative, and incorporate Diné leadership values and strategies is essential.
Skills and Abilities- Strong managerial and team building skills, with the ability to motivate and empower direct and indirect reports to achieve area priorities.
- Excellent project management skills, attention to detail, and collaboration with senior individuals from throughout the College.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, along with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
- Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit correspondence and other written materials.
- Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
- Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
The work environment is fast-paced with timelines, and some in-state and out-of-state travel may be required. The successful candidate must have and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license and successfully pass a background check. Other licensing may be required depending on position and/or area of assignment.
