Summary

The Photography and Social Media Intern works closely with University of Michigan-Dearborn's Communications team, providing support with photography, videography, graphics and social media. 

This individual will also assist with photo selection, photo shoots, updating and maintaining photo libraries, compiling social media metrics and other communications and marketing duties as assigned. 

This is a paid internship and is not eligible for course credit. 

This position is open to current UM-Dearborn students only. 

This internship requires a commitment of at least Winter semester, but it can be extended into additional semesters upon mutual agreement of the intern and supervisor.

Taking photographs for Reporter (faculty/staff enews), social media and other needs Shooting/editing Reels and other short video for Reporter and UM-Dearborn social media, with a focus on telling interesting student stories Working with our Digital Media Manager to produce graphics (using Canva) and written content for UM-Dearborn?s social media channels: FB, Twitter, IG, LinkedIn Helping to organize student social media takeovers Selecting and re-sizing photos for Reporter, social media and other needs Assisting professional freelance photographers with photo shoots, including providing scheduling assistance Uploading, organizing and tagging photos in our photo library  Pulling and analyzing social media metrics

Required Qualifications*

Enrolled as a University of Michigan-Dearborn student Photography and basic social media experience necessary. Experience with Canva and video a plus, but a willingness to learn is also great. Reliable, good communicator, well organized and able to work independently An overall passion for UM-Dearborn and a tie to the pulse of student life on campus  Communication, English, Journalism or Marketing majors are likely to be a good fit for this role, but students in other majors with relevant experience are encouraged to apply
