As one of the largest staffing agencies based in Austin, TX, we are committed to providing the perfect match for every staffing need.This position will provide support to the HHSC Medicaid and CHIP Services department to prepare the Texas Medicaid and CHIP Reference Guide, 15th Edition (also known as "The Pink Book") for publication.Key functions to be performed:· Gather, organize, write, and edit content, working closely with the Strategic Communications Specialist and Medicaid and CHIP subject matter experts to understand project requirements.· Draft and edit content for clarity, using plain language to describe complicated ideas in a way that is understandable and accessible for an audience without subject matter expertise.· Align developed content with established style guidelines.· Copy edit and proofread for AP style, involving but not limited to correcting, strengthening, and organizing with the intention of producing a consistent, accurate, and comprehensive publication.· Provide input to the agency to maximize the publication's potential to communicate qualitative and quantitative program information clearly and concisely via improvements in formatting, layout, visual aids, tables, and graphs.· Work alongside a small team while independently completing assigned work on a strict timeline.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:· Proven ability to write clearly and concisely and assist with reworking text for clarity· Ability to understand and distill detailed and complex information· Expertise in writing and editing in AP style· Experience working with deadlines and short turnarounds while maintaining high standards· Ability to work independently on assignments and with a team to reach overall project goals· Proven ability to edit content for clarity, grammar, punctuation and overall presentation· Highly organized with ability to be flexible· Experience implementing best practices involving the visual display of quantitative informationMinimum Skills/Experience: · Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or related field.· 5+ years’ experience in technical writing, copy editing and proofreading· Preferred experience writing for legislature or other governmental bodiesAt GSG, we provide reasonable accommodations through the WORKWONDERS Program and encourage candidates with qualifying conditions to apply.
