Key job responsibilities
•Work directly with senior leaders in the Workforce Planning team, while partnering with Finance, HR and business leadership to manage creation of tools and processes that support the one- and three-year workforce plans in cadence with AWS’ operational cycles
•Earns trust with internal stakeholders and customers, and develops collaborative solutions that create measurable economic impact on AWS
•Leverage deep knowledge of workforce planning methodologies, data sources, and practices. Applies this technical knowledge to invent, evolve, improve, and simplify.
•Drive large-scale workforce planning programs that solve significantly complex or endemic problems.
•Consistently bring strong, data-driven business and technical judgment to decisions.
•Recognize when designs/solutions require additional technical guidance (e.g., from senior practitioners or subject matter experts).
•Advocate for and guide workforce programs. Influence teams to dedicate resources, and lead the effort (or finds appropriate owner).
•Capture the right metrics to influence stakeholders and measure success.
•Occasional travel to internal meetings and fact-finding sessions.
A day in the life
As a Technical Program Manager within AWS, you will partner across the WFP group guided by a senior member of the team. You will play a key role on the Workforce Planning Science, Tooling and Inspection sub-teams that influence the long-range plans of the business and the technical agenda that supports it. You will influence tools and programs serving senior leaders globally and impacting AWS’ future.
The ideal Technical Program Manager has a strong sense of ownership, is self-driven, loves breaking new ground. You will bring a mix of experience including complex technical program management, senior stakeholder management, cross-functional collaboration, strategic planning, operational planning, and process improvement.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in statistics, engineering, I/O psychology, mathematics, economics, or related field, and 6+ years of domain experience. Has contributed to teams that have built workforce, recruiting/capacity planning, and HC management programs and tools, and has familiarity in solving problems/efforts with visible risks, roadblocks, and some constraints.- Experience setting technical requirements for process automation and Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, expertise in deriving insights through data analysis, practical knowledge and experience in inferential statistical application.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to dive deep into the data.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to engage effectively with a broad range of audiences including senior business leaders and cross-functional colleagues.
- Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic and ambiguous environment by combining analytical rigor and judgment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong commitment to exceptional customer experience, enthusiasm to drive positive change and ability to persuade- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (ability to present detailed technical analysis, assumptions, and recommendations succinctly)
- Application of data mining/machine learning algorithms
- Experience with making large scale optimization and predictive models
- Experience with compensation data, financial analysis, and opex budgeting
- Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles and functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
