Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking to hire a Diagnostic Laboratories Team Leader (DLTL), whom will report to the Manager of the diagnostic Blood Bank Laboratories, and whom will supervise efficient integration and management of the team and operations to properly provide laboratory services. The DLTL defines performance standards and manages operations to support consistent outcomes which meet or exceed quality standards. The DLTL plans, coordinates and supervises the activities of personnel engaged in testing and implements new technology. In support of the MLS programs, the DLTL enables staff to serve as instructors for the primary training of the MLS students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Manages daily activities and the team to optimize operational processes and meet quality performance standards within the Laboratory service.
*Supervises personnel, selects new employees, assures staff are properly trained and meet competencies, identifies training needs, responsible for performance evaluation.
*Develops and implements quality control/assurance program, including appropriate proficiency testing and peer review standards.
*Responsible for maintaining all required activities and documents to assure compliance with both regulatory and accreditation standards applicable to this laboratory.
*The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.

Position Qualifications
Required:
*Education, experience, certification and license should be applicable to the specialty area or department as generalist or categorical. 2) If categorical supervisor license, then employee must serve as Team Leader for the specific lab defined by the categorical license. 3) Medical Technologist Supervisor license is not required for Histology or Lab Client Services Team Leader positions.
2) Successful completion of CAHEA or NAACLS accredited Medical Technology program or BS from accredited institution with major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science and ASCP technologist generalist or categorical certification or equivalent certification; or equivalent education and experience per CLIA and TN Medical Laboratory Board ( personnel performing high complexity testing. Allowed, 6 months to obtain categorical Medical Technologist and Medical Technologist Supervisor licensure in the state of Tennessee. Considered in training, until licensure obtained.
*Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) from accredited institution (Required)
*3 years relevant experience (Required)
*Licensed Medical Laboratory Supervisor (Required)
*Licensed Medical Laboratory Technologist (Required)

Preferred:
*MLS (ASCP) Certification and state of Tennessee Medical Technologist license
*Technologist Supervisor - Generalist license in the state of Tennessee
*Prior diagnostic laboratories supervisory experience in the diagnostic Blood Bank laboratories

Position Shift:
*Exempt, 3rd Shift, Monday-Friday 21:00-07:30

Consideration may be given to candidates that can obtain certification within 120 days, in accordance with state guidelines.
