Job Summary:

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking to hire a Pathology Technician, whom will report to the Team Lead and whom will have responsibility for directly assisting Pathologists, Pathologist Assistants, or Residents in performing tasks that directly support processing and analysis of surgical specimens. Additional responsibilities include following approved procedures with occasional guidance. serving as a technical resource to Pathology Technician I's, as well as possibly overseeing a portion of their training. The Pathology Technician assists in performing autopsies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Accessions patient specimens following standard procedures in a timely manner to meet clinical needs of the Gross Room.
*Performs biopsies and other special procedures as assigned by PAs following standard approved procedures.
*Maintains specimens, equipment and supplies, records and files.
*Assists residents and pathologists in performing autopsies, maintains the autopsy suites by performing daily cleaning and maintenance following approved laboratory and safety procedures.
*The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.

Desired Qualifications:
*Prior diagnostic Anatomic Pathology Gross Room laboratory experience
