The Visual Art Program at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) seeks a full-time Assistant Professor of Art to begin Fall . TAMIU is a growing university of over 8, students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant bilingual and bicultural city with a population of about ,. For more information, visit is a tenure-track position that supports the BA in Visual Art and minor in Studio Art program. We are seeking versatile candidates whose art practice consists of creating 2D, 3D, and installation-based works. Successful candidates will also have working knowledge of digital creation methods and tools.
Primary duties will include teaching and developing courses from foundational (2D and 3D) to advance level courses based on the candidate’s expertise.
A reduced course load (2-2 for the first two years) is provided to allow the new hire to focus on conducting and publishing research in art and/or closely related areas. Duties also include committee assignments, shared gallery management, departmental duties, and university/community service.
We offer competitive salaries and a benefits package including health insurance, retirement benefits, and life insurance. Additional pay is available for summer teaching. Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.
This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate must hold an MFA in Art. Candidates who will earn their MFA before Fall will be considered for this position.
