Laredo College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Professor of Physics to teach science courses in the Department of Natural Sciences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physics and be able to effectively communicate complex concepts to students.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching: Teach assigned courses in physics, including lecture and laboratory materials, to ensure student achievement.
- Course Preparation: Prepare and review departmental syllabus, which informs students about course requirements, absences, tardiness, testing, assignments, and grading policies.
- Student Progress: Provide students with regular evaluations of their progress, including prompt return of assignments, quizzes, and examinations.
- Assessment: Participate in assessment activities at the course, department, and college levels to assist students in achieving designated course objectives or learning outcomes.
- Student Support: Provide educational assistance within assigned courses, including tutoring, referral to available student support services, and acting as an educational resource for students.
- Counseling: Counsel students and notify them of frequent absences, failures, or necessary make-up work.
- Classroom Management: Meet all assigned classes on time, be available to students 15 minutes before and after class, and maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Administrative Tasks: Follow procedures and deadlines related to the Registration office, including submitting final grades, midterm grades, drops prior to the census date, and other requirements in PASPort.
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree is required; a Bachelor's Degree in a field of science is preferred.
- Experience: Some experience teaching at the community and/or senior college level is desirable.
- Skills and Abilities: The individual must be knowledgeable, mature, and concerned with the academic progress of students; cooperative and professional in dealing with college administrators, colleagues, and students; and able to operate specialized laboratory equipment, audio-visual aids, and computers.
