Summary

The Senior Associate, Training Grant Program Management will oversee the GSBS Training Grant & Fellowship Office (TGFO) regarding directing, assessing and improving the functions of the TGFO in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, with the goal of increasing training grant and fellowship submissions, and ultimately training grant awards across the College. Will provide expertise and instruction, identify deficiencies and develop resources and coaching that will enhance the rate of successful applications for training grant and fellowship awards by faculty and trainees (graduate students and research postdoctoral fellows), respectively.

 

This role is eligible for a hybrid work schedule working three days onsite and two days remotely each week.

 

Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay.

Job Duties
  • Plans, develops and executes the Office’s organizational and operational processes and procedures in support of applications and progress reports for training grants, and individual applications for biomedical trainee fellowships.
  • Manages data resources that support T32 training grant applications, and assesses quality of data collection and input by other GSBS offices.
  • Advises faculty program directors on data analysis and use in grant applications.
  • Develops and leads educational workshops, and offers individual consultations for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows on individual fellowship opportunities and skills pertaining to proposal preparation.
  • Identifies and transmits information related to faculty mentoring and training plan requirements.
  • Manages and analyzes data for trainee outcomes, prepares reports for GSBS leadership and accreditation requirements.
  • Analyzes industry trends and remains current with funding agency and regulatory changes.
  • Understands sponsor regulations and guidelines related to various awarding agencies and mechanisms inclusive of NIH Grants Policy Statement and post-award grants compliance.
  • Researches training grant application/progress report requirements, as well as updated and new training grant policies.
  • Compiles and creates education and research resources to demonstrate compliance with NIH requirements for training programs.
  • Identifies fellowship opportunities and other educational grant opportunities from the NIH and other foundations and distributes information to potential applicants.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.  Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD
  • Experience with proposal development
  • Demonstrated ability to write and speak effectively, summarize issues and provide recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to work with computer-based systems and software
  • Excellent organization, problem solving and interpersonal skills required
