The primary purpose of the Grant Program Manager position is to provide administrative oversight and support for the grant process for large-scale grants and/or multiple grant activities for the Department of Health Disparities Research. Performs comprehensive management duties related to the administration of multi-project grants, including fiscal activities, special projects, and grants and contracts administration. Impacts the capability of the department or program to reach its scientific and administrative goals.

**JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES**

**Grant Operations Management**
- Provides comprehensive administrative planning and management for grant initiatives for the department including large-scale multi-project grants. Communicates and negotiates, at all levels, regarding decisions around the grant process.
- Interacts with granting agencies to obtain information on the future funding opportunities and acts as resource to faculty regarding granting opportunities relevant to their research programs. Assists investigators in the preparation of grant budgets and budget justifications. Ensures that administrative staff has all appropriate grant forms and regulatory requirements pertaining each grant submission.
- Works with Grants and Contracts Accounting, NIH, and other agencies in assisting in the transfer of existing grants from the former institution, or other requirements for sub-contracts as necessary.
- Performs budget analyses and budget revisions. Facilitates the establishment of new chart-field strings as required by grant activities; communicates these activities to project leaders.
- Supports administrative planning as requested for HDR grant and contracts submission initiatives, to include working with all HDR principal investigators (PIs) and postdoctoral trainees and/or their designee following established departmental procedures.
- Engage in the submission/review process by performing a quality check on all grants and contracts submissions (against sponsor instructions) to ensure formatting, budgeting and other components are accurate following established departmental procedures.
- Supports administrative planning as requested for HDR grant and contract progress reports, to include working with all HDR principal investigators (PIs) and postdoctoral trainees and/or their designee following established departmental procedures.
- Engage in the submission/review process by performing a quality check on all progress reports (against agency instructions) to ensure formatting, budgeting and other components are accurate following established departmental procedures.
- Update relevant departmental records and reports as needed following established departmental procedures.

**Financial Management**
- Performs accurate accounting of grants, monthly account status reports, reconciliation and reporting on grant related sponsored programs and grant accounts.
- Assists with the reallocation of funds and transfer of expenses as necessary. Assists with the review of monthly expenditures across chart-field strings and reports to project and principal investigators.
- Manages grant funds and fund allocation across multiple projects and reports appropriately. Interacts with all levels of personnel both inside and outside the institution to resolve problems/errors or questions regarding grant financial reports
- Solicits and reviews quarterly reports and budgets for shared resources. Monitors and evaluates reports on shared resource activities
- Facilitates the routine reporting of budget, expense and margin activity as required for reporting purposes. Ensure that reporting deadlines and assignments are met in a timely manner.

**Special Projects**
- Provides pre and post award ad hoc reports as requested by department leadership.
- Assists with quarterly effort reporting for department.
- Mentors and develops others in the grant program process.
- Assists with monitoring financial management and the budget process within the department.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Two years of grant management experience such as grant writing, grant submission and financial administration and one year of lead or supervisory experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one year basis. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.

Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
