What We Need:

We are looking for a Trade Compliance Analyst to join our HNI team in Muscatine, Iowa

Support HNI's trade compliance efforts by providing guidance and support in a wide variety of tasks and initiatives to safeguard the company's lawful privileges and interests as an international business. Specifically, you will ensure international trade transactions and documentation across HNI operating companies meet rules and regulations, as provided by various government agencies, including . Customs and Border Protection. 

What You Will Do:

Ensure various international shipping documents are in accordance with . or a foreign country’s import/export laws and are accurately prepared. Ensure regular auditing of import and/or export documentation is completed to ensure the companies are using Reasonable Care to confirm accuracy throughout documentation provided to government agencies. Provide figures and statistics, producing reports for management as needed. Provide guidance to Trade team members as well as other internal members to ensure international shipment activities are performed in a compliant manner. Maintain a relationship with brokers, communicating data changes, discrepancies, or issues. Partner with the team in the Mexico facility abiding by rules associated to the IMMEX program. Provide strategic logistics advice internally to ensure the most cost- effective processes are being used. Resolve issues related to incorrect Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes, or Partner Government Agency requirements that could result in delays in shipment Maintain both administrative and accounting records on behalf of the company, in accordance with company policy as well as observing import/export laws.

What You Have:

Bachelors’ degree with 2 to 4 years of industry related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Experience working with international shipments Ability to interpret and apply complex trade agreements and regulations Clear understanding of commercial practices and understand basic accounting procedures Technical expertise in all aspects of import/export management, including classification, valuation, landed costs, country of origin and entry documents is preferred
