SUMMARY:   

The Network Administrator will utilize experience in higher education and an understanding of the University's issues and concerns to maintain and improve systems, network, telecom, and data center operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for assembling and performing advanced custom configuration of network and system components (servers, storage arrays, routers, switches, etc.) Ensuring proper functioning and maintenance of server and network services (connectivity and access) Ensures that backup copies of all files are routinely made and securely stored; maintains system documentation Diagnoses problems with network equipment and performs equipment repair or upgrades when appropriate Performing custom configuration for complex network devices such as firewalls and VPN concentrators Provide technical support to users concerning network system operations Serving as project manager for projects related to system and network infrastructure Resolving major server and network issues to ensure continuity of university operations Upgrading network hardware and software components Ensuring customer satisfaction across campus with all constituents Create and maintain network documentation

Requirements:

Associate's degree from a technical school; 2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1-3 years of experience in higher education strongly preferred Knowledge of Cisco Switching and Routing including VLAN, VTP, and STP. Knowledge DNS, LDAP, DHCP, and Active Directory. Working knowledge of current Microsoft Operation Systems. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft SharePoint Server and Microsoft Azure. Experience with Wireless Controllers and Access Points. Cisco CCNA. ITIL certification. Hands-on experience with a wide variety of computer software, hardware, and peripherals, including Microsoft 365  Experience with computer security systems, password, and file protection protocols Experienced networking knowledge to support desktop issues Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively listen and communicate information in a clear and concise manner Demonstrate skills and ability to effectively diffuse/resolve customer complaints.
