CITY OF BALTIMORE, MAYOR'S OFFICE OF LGBTQ AFFAIRS

CLERICAL ASSISTANT, DATA ENTRY, AND SOCIAL MEDIA CURATOR

SUMMARY:

The assistant will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and inclusive work environment. Networking opportunities with professionals in the field. Exposure to LGBTQ advocacy and community engagement initiatives.

Primary responsibilities include:

Clerical Assistance:

Provide general clerical support to the Mayor's Office of LGBTQ Affairs.

Assist in organizing and maintaining office files, documents, and records.

Answer phones, take messages, and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff members.

Assist with scheduling and coordinating meetings, appointments, and events.

Handle routine correspondence and communications.

2. Data Entry:

Accurately input data into relevant databases and information systems.

Assist in maintaining and updating databases, ensuring data integrity.

Help generate reports and summaries from collected data as needed.

Collaborate with team members to ensure data consistency and accuracy.

3. Social Media Curation:

Manage and curate social media platforms for the Mayor's Office of LGBTQ Affairs.

Create and schedule engaging content that aligns with the office's mission and initiatives.

Monitor social media channels for relevant news, trends, and community engagement opportunities.

Respond to inquiries and comments on social media platforms in a timely and professional manner.

Collaborate with other team members to develop social media campaigns and promotions.

4. Event Support:

Assist in the planning and execution of events hosted by the Mayor's Office of LGBTQ Affairs.

Coordinate logistics, including venue setup, guest lists, and materials preparation.

Provide on-site support during events, ensuring a smooth and positive experience for attendees.

5. Research and Analysis:

Conduct research on LGBTQ-related issues, policies, and community initiatives.

Compile information and prepare reports as requested by team members.

Stay informed about local, national, and global LGBTQ news and trends.

Qualifications:

Current enrollment in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program (Public Administration, Political Science, Communications, etc.).

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry.

Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Commitment to LGBTQ rights and inclusivity.
