Through DoD SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes, Sierra Nevada Corporation provides internships to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These internships include up to six months of on-the-job training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work.As a Systems Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify and improve cutting edge products and services. You'll be developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you are in charge of system-level ownership of new products and processes through the product lifecycle.
The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. Must-haves:
Currently serving as active duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program
Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 3+ years of relevant experience
Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices
Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles
Preferred:
Experience with requirements management and system modelling tools, such as ENOVIA Requirements Management, DOORs, Cameo, Dymola, and MATLAB.
Practical knowledge of industry standard Systens Engineering design principles, to include, but not limited to requirements management, Traditional Systems Engineering, and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
Experience and certification in INCOSE standards (ASEP/CSEP)
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
Ability to administer baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high impact trade studies and other measures
Exposure to establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM)
An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is preferred
