Michael Baker International is searching for a Construction Services Department Manager that will lead construction management project execution, business development and functional resource management in Ohio. This position can be based out of any of our OH offices in Cleveland, Canton, Columbus, or Cincinnati. 

As the Construction Services Department Manager, you will help to grow our Construction Services practice area by developing and maintaining client relationships to win and replace work with ODOT, cities, counties and agencies. In this role, you will also work to incrementally grow and diversify the Ohio Construction Services business by managing the scope, schedule, budgets and quality of construction management projects, oversight and guidance for project managers and technical staff. You will also prepare scopes of work, schedules, and cost estimates for proposals. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage multiple civil and transportation construction projects in Ohio including serving as Project Manager for ODOT and local agency projects Provide technical support and oversight to assigned project staff Perform business development activities for Ohio construction services and be recognized for major project delivery of similar assignments Manage staff utilization by scheduling, monitoring and revising assignments. Financial management, client relations; resolving personnel and performance issues. Satisfy project requirements by ensuring that quality standards and deadlines are met. Write winning technical and cost proposals. Performance Reviews. Recruitment and Retention. Participate in internal and external professional development activities. Collaborate with the Office Executives in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati offices. Collaborate with the Regional and National Practice Leads, as well as construction managers from other Michael Baker International offices. Some evenings will be spent at professional society meetings developing and maintaining relationships with key clients, teaming partners and potential staff hires. Be part of a dynamic team responsible for expanding the Construction Services practice currently servicing cities, counties, agencies and ODOT.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS 

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field required  Professional Engineering license in OH required. 15+ years of relevant experience working on and managing construction projects with city, county, state and agencies in OH required.  Experience managing a diverse staff of inspectors, field engineers, office engineers, and resident engineers is required. Previous experience winning new work and managing projects for one or more of the following clientele: ODOT, Ohio LPAs. Experience with Design Build, public and/or private sector development/capital infrastructure projects. Strong writing, verbal presentation, project and resource management skills. Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, Access).

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $125,000 to $175,000 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
