We are currently seeking a high energy, self-starting individual to supervise a Residential IRA in Queens. A person's managerial and clinical skills will be maximized in an interdisciplinary team environment, where there is ongoing support
and training. The Supervisor 1 is responsible for providing staff training, mentoring and supervision of 10-25 direct and/or in-direct reports, or based on program needs. The Supervisor 1 will need to be able to provide program oversight, quality assurance, maintain NYS regulations, oversee clinical programming, be an advocate for the people we support and be a liaison with families.
The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for working directly with people of all ages with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities, creating new opportunities for Living, Loving, Working, and Learning. We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic Supervisor 1 to work with this active group of people, who has the ability to handle challenging situations with patience and understanding.
Key responsibilities:
Ensuring health, safety, and habilitation of the people we support consistent with agency philosophy and department practices.Ensuring the appropriate, therapeutically documented level of supervision in the residence, day program or community to ensure and protect the health and/or safety of the people we support.Providing program/floor coverage, when necessary.Promoting and maintaining the excellence of the programsDeveloping professional, empathic relationships with family members ensuring they are included in the team process. Leading and facilitating interdisciplinary team meetings and staff meetings to ensure effective communication. Attend regional and agency supervisor meeting or as directed by your supervisor. Attending and actively participating in the planning meeting for the people we support.Fostering interagency collaborationBringing the organizational culture to lifeEnsuring a work environment that is free from harassment and discriminationPlaying an active role in the hiring process; interviewing and selecting appropriate staff based on program needsMaintaining direct relationship with staffBuilding staff moraleFostering professional development through regular supervision, training, and evaluations.Supervising staff to ensure they are meeting the needs of the people we support and agency standards.Utilizing participatory managementFostering the Open-Door PolicyMaintaining oversight and compliance of systems specific to role and responsibilitiesFostering communication and maintaining professional between relevant supports including those within the program, within the agency, and supports outside the agencyOverseeing all financial systems, maintaining records for the people we support and program expenditures.Operating the program within budgetary guidelines.Maintaining a safe environment for staff and the people we support and reporting any hazardous conditions.Ensuring the completion and maintenance of all paperwork and written records related to individual treatment. This includes but is not limited to medical records, treatment records, progress reports, data collection, behavior reports, incident reports, billing records, and all written communication systems.Reporting and monitoring incidents, as well as assist with the investigative process.Required to perform your responsibilities as they currently exist or may change in meeting the needs of the department, under the supervision of your supervisor/manager.Education and Experience:
BA/BS strongly preferredPrior supervisory experience requiredPrior Direct Support Professional experience preferredBackground in supporting people with intellectual/developmental disabilities or mental health preferredAdditional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
