The Division of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures is seeking an Administrative Services Manager.

The Administrative Service Manager leads the administrative operational functions for the Division of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, comprising the departments of Asian and Slavic Languages and Literatures, French and Italian, German, Linguistics (including English as a Second Language), and Spanish and Portuguese, as well as the programs of American Sign Language, Translation (MFA in Literary Translation and undergraduate programs), Latin American Studies, International Studies, and. the Center for Language and Culture Learning (CLCL), within the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, which includes teaching, research and service activities. In collaboration with the Department Executive Officers (DEOs), provides oversight for budgeting, accounting, human resources, facilities management, academic support, and other major areas within the Division.


Key Responsibilities

In conjunction with the Division Director, make high-level decisions regarding operational, financial, and human resource activities. Resolve operational matters with significant impact to the Division. Design office administration function and workflow. Collaborate with CLAS HR for maximum use of available resources. Coordinate and oversee annual faculty reviews and promotion and tenure cases. Manage financial data and information for the Division. Provides budget oversight for Division, assist in negotiation of budget, and provide projections and recommendations. Develop and implement strategic plans for all departments and programs held within the Divisions. Attends DWLLC Executive Committee and provide planning support for DEOs of all departments and programs and Division Director.

Education required:

·Master’s degree in hand by start date or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience required:

·Typically, 3 years of administrative experience.

Required qualifications:

·Demonstrates extensive experience in application of policies, accounting practices and tools to develop and administer a complex budget that includes multiple funding sources.

·Demonstrates extensive experience in leading, motivating, evaluating, and rewarding personnel, including supervision.

·Demonstrates extensive knowledge and ability to utilize tools, techniques, and processes for gathering and reporting data.

·Demonstrates extensive knowledge and application of oral and written communication techniques and relationship building skills that develop the ability to clearly communicate and work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner while maintaining strict confidentiality.

·Demonstrate working experience in computer software applications, including experience with electronic processing of transactions.

Highly Desired qualifications:

·Experience working in an academic setting.

·Working experience in change management techniques for project execution.

Desired qualifications:

·Familiarity, or working experience, with international populations.

·Demonstrates working experience in managing physical facilities, including planning and maintenance.
