Position Summary

The Director of Finance oversees all financial and accounting aspects of the venue along with the General Manager, drives its financial strategy and planning. This position manages the facility's cash flow, leads the accounting operations, produces accurate financial reports, and recommends actions to meet the business goals of the assigned facility.

Responsibilities include planing and directing all aspects of financial, accounting, purchasing, human resources, payroll, and internal control functions for the venue by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinate supervisors. The Director of Finance directly supervises the Finance Department and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Oak View Group’s policies and applicable laws. Other responsibilities include overseeing the interviewing, hiring of department employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance appraisals; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems and working colaboratively with all departments in the building.

This role will pay a yearly salary of $75,000 to $85,000.

Responsibilities

Prepare monthly financial statements, annual budget and yearend reports for the Client and Oak View Corporate Office Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities of assigned programs and functions including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivables, purchasing, budgeting and the general ledger Select, train, motivate and evaluate accounting staff Manage and participate in the development and administration of the venue annual budget Direct and provide consultation to department managers in the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies Direct the monitoring of and approve expenditures Implement budgetary adjustments as necessary Works with Corporate Human Resources to administer personnel and related policies and procedures to ensure compliance Manages the day to day human resources functions of the venue and serve as a trusted advisor to the General Manager and leadership team Coordinate the accounting activities of the facility in relation to the annual audit Prepare event settlements and generate account transfers or check payments Prepare monthly financial statements for corporate office and client Analyze profit and loss figures to prepare monthly comments and explanations of performance trends Maintain contracts and ensure building compliance Complete monthly forecast as part of the month end financials Monitor daily cash status and invest and/or reallocate as needed Conduct money movement for major event settlements Prepare and file sales tax returns Post monthly benefit entries to the general ledger Complete monthly work papers to support general ledger balances Serve as liaison for Accounting with other departments, divisions and outside auditors Negotiate and resolve significant and controversial issues Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal/external clients Maintains contact with OVG’s Risk Management Department and insurance broker for coordination of appropriate coverage Any other duties and responsabilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5-7 years professional accounting experience including at least one year of supervisory responsibility Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance public or business administration or related field Extensive knowledge and proficiency of accounting software (preferably Sage), MS Excel, and other MS Office applications software Previous public assembly facility accounting experience highly desired Candidate must have working knowledge of all state and federal employment-related regulations. Must be available to work a flexible schedule including long hours, nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing Ability to safely and accurately handle and account for large sums of money Ability to work independently and as part of a team Requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, exhibit strong attention to detail and follow-through, negotiating skills, ability to partner effectively with all departments, and the ability to meet deadlines and facilitate the flow of information.
