Currently we are seeking a Manufacturing Manager for the Final Assembly Process to join our team in Scranton, Iowa. This Manager oversees a group of skilled individuals that are responsible for the final stages of our assembly process. In this department, they make sure that each garbage truck body is mounted on the truck chassis correctly, including the prep process, wiring, and hydraulics. This person will have a high level of technical knowledge and the ability to drive innovation.
Your Role in Our Mission:
- Provide a safe work environment and assure that team members follow safe work practices.
- Direct or coordinate manufacturing schedules.
- Plans effective manufacturing lines and executes change as needed using Lean Manufacturing philosophy.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity and assist with implementation of changes.
- Directs efforts of Supervisors, ensuring all work is coordinated, downtime is minimized, and product meets established quality standards.
- Works to develop procedures and techniques to reduce process variation and manufacturing delays, while increasing productivity.
- Reviews headcount requests, participates in hiring process and creates expectations working with supervisors.
- Hire, train, evaluate, or discharge employees, according to company policy.
- Manages performance and works with HR in situations requiring disciplinary process.
- Communicate with other departments to ensure proper materials and equipment are provided for the team members.
- Manages labor to budget.
- Coordinates production schedule with support departments and resolves manufacturing problems related to methods, tools, materials, and manpower.
- Communicate expectations and challenges to Supervisors.
To Perform this Job Successfully:
- 2-3 years of experience in a leadership role required.
- Experience with an ERP system and can create metrics.
- Strong communication skills with all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of processes and equipment in a similar industry.
- Ability to plan and implement changes effectively.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work with a high sense of urgency with minimal supervision.
- Math skills including a good understanding of fractions and angles.
- Financial knowledge to understand and make decisions that can impact profitability.
- Ability to read blueprint drawings, schematics, and other related technical documents.
- Computer skills including ability to use and create word documents, spread sheets as well as utilize Payroll, and Enterprise Resource Planning software.
