DSPD Program Specialist II
Assessment Support Coordinator
The Division of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD) , within the Department of Health & Human Services, is looking for a dedicated professional to fill our Program Specialist II position.
As a Program Specialist II you will gather information about people on the DSPD waiting list, handle crisis situations, make referrals to community partners, coordinate home and community based services, and use person centered planning to ensure services meet the needs and desires of the individuals.

The Department of Human Services is dedicated to provide care for individuals and families in Utah. Utah Division of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD) promotes opportunities and provides support for people with disabilities to lead self-determined lives by overseeing home and community-based services for more than 6,000 people who have disabilities. Example of Duties
Respond to inquiries for community based services.
Manage crisis situations.
Support and sustain DSPD goals, plans and objectives.
Demonstrate leadership.
Apply understanding of a person's eligibility for services.
Negotiate the DSPD budget worksheet within the individualized budget.
Qualifications
(includes knowledge, skills, and abilities required upon entry into position and trainable after entry into position)
Has experience supporting individuals with disabilities to lead self-determined lives.
Has experience in Person-Centered thinking and processes.
Has knowledge of Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS).
Understands Department waivers and resulting contracts with direct service contractors.
Understands Division services.
Has strong interpersonal skills.
Has a strong understanding of cultural competence.
Has the ability to work well independently.
Is an excellent listener who is also proactive.
Has the ability to work well with a wide range of people with varying interests.
Supplemental Information
The typical office setting for this job is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. However, you may encounter some risks that are associated with any office setting, for example, the safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
DHRM rules regarding promotions and transfers apply to current state of Utah employees.
This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office and remote work days. Please note, a position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.
