Job Description

About This Role

As the Product Development and Commercialization (PDC) Lead, Nephrology, you will lead the Global PDC team and serve as the single enterprise-wide point of accountability to drive long-term success of Biogen’s asset in development for multiple nephrology indications. 

You will be accountable for leading an integrated cross-functional team to develop and execute a global strategic plan, life cycle management plans, and annual operating plans to enable sustainable market growth.  You will partner closely with the operational teams across all regions to maximize long-term value for patients, while also meeting organizational objectives.

Externally, you will represent Biogen to drive strong relationships with the patient community and key advocacy organizations, as well as promote Biogen as the partner of choice, to ensure productive relationships with key business partners and major stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Set the strategic direction, define and drive the business goals for the asset.
  • Ensure global strategy and insights reflect the voice of the customer and address the most critical business needs and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnership and coordination with key internal stakeholders including functional leaders and executive leadership.
  • Drive engagement and alignment across regions and functions including Medical, Research, Development, Value & Access, Corporate Affairs, Customer Excellence & Operations, Pharmaceutical Operations and Technology (PO&T)/Supply Chain, Legal and Compliance, and other relevant stakeholders to achieve alignment on strategy. 
  • Shape the global launch strategy and go-to-market approach. Provide strong cross-functional direction to ensure execution of the strategy. 
  • Develop and execute against lifecycle management (LCM) plans.
  • Accountable for comprehensive assessment of competition and identification of opportunities to guide/refine the global strategy amidst rapidly changing market dynamics.
  • Create a learning and teaching environment within the PDC team.

Who You Are:

You are a highly collaborative leader who is comfortable leading without direct authority.  You are confident interfacing with senior level internal stakeholders and external stakeholders such as key medical experts, patient advocacy organizations, public policy makers, and investors.  You translate corporate strategy to an asset strategy and drive your teams to deliver measurable results. You demonstrate compelling communication, influence, and negotiation skills.


Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 12+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry with experience in asset leadership
  • Nephrology development, launch and/or commercialization experience
  • Experience commercializing new assets and maximizing the value of an asset across the product lifecycle
  • Thorough understanding of the drug development process
  • Anticipated travel: up to 25% international

Preferred Skills

  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Experience leading a regional or global function, business unit, or affiliate
