We are currently searching for an experienced Traffic/Transportation Engineer to support our East Gulf Region group located in Birmingham, Huntsville, and Tuscaloosa, AL.
What you’ll be doing:
Perform routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles Projects may include traffic operations analysis, traffic signal design, traffic signal timing development, corridor planning studies, transportation safety studies, roadway master planning, long range transportation planning, and transportation modeling (micro and macro) Assist the Project Manager and Project Engineer in the development and design of projects Prepare engineering studies, documents, and reportsWhat you need to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering 0 – 5 years of experience EI Certification or PE License (if eligible) required within one year of employment Familiarity with Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA, HCS, and Microstation Familiarity with CUBE Voyager and TransCAD is a plus Proficiency with MS Office products Must be dependable with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team to meet deadlines and provide high quality work Able to maintain project schedules, which may require occasional extended hours and overnight travel Effective verbal and written communication skills General interpersonal skills including active listening, teamwork, responsibility, dependability, leadership, motivation, flexibility, and patience Characteristics of a successful Volkert team member:Be a brand ambassador for the company who engages in diversity and inclusion,Be self-motivated to meet individual goals and maintain accountability in a team environmentExercise initiative and independent judgement in the solution of work problemsBe able to communicate effectively- verbal and writtenBe able to multi-task in a team environmentVolkert Perks:
