The Academic Technology Specialist (Analyst, IT level C) position works directly with faculty and colleagues on instructional design, pedagogy and course-related website development. This position reports to the Manager for Educational Technology Services (ETS).

*On-site position based in Durham, NC


Responsibilities:

Create, manage and support EMBA, Daytime, MMS, Ph. D, DKU, MQM, Online MQM course sites using Canvas LMS Collaborate with faculty to understand online course plans including necessary materials and teaching approaches Consult with faculty on course content display Train faculty and staff on LMS functions and site maintenance Assist with student and faculty Canvas LMS guides/documentation Implement and manage course site templates Collaborate with the technical team to test, document and demonstrate new academic software applications and tools Collaborate with faculty, students and staff to test new learning management systems Collaborate with faculty, students and staff on innovative uses of technology

Experience and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with additional experience in instructional design and Canvas LMS Administration Instructional design expertise with insights about technology trends and solutions Experience with web authoring tools, multimedia tools, presentation software, streaming video in an academic environment Knowledge of learning management systems and other tools widely-used for teaching Must be a self-starter who requires minimal supervision. Ability to work in a collaborative team environment Strong interpersonal skills Problem-solver with the ability to communicate in both technical and non-technical terms Ability to establish good working relationships with a wide range of people within an academic community Evidence of ability to generate faculty enthusiasm for and engagement in the use of new technologies for teaching
