Rate -25-27/hr. on W2

Job Overview:
The City of El Cerrito is seeking two motivated and skilled Desktop Support Personnel to provide essential technical support services to our employees. These positions are a mix of junior and mid-level roles, and we prefer candidates who are local to the East Bay Area, with proximity to the El Cerrito Bart Station. As a Desktop Support Personnel, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of our IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, and user support.
Responsibilities:
For Both Positions (Junior and Mid-Level):
1. Configure and Deploy New Machines:
• Set up and configure new desktops, laptops, and other devices for users.
• Ensure proper installation of necessary software and hardware components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues during setup.
2. User Login Support:
• Assist users in resolving login issues, password resets, and access problems.
• Provide guidance on best practices for maintaining secure login credentials.
3. Printer Support:
• Address printer-related problems, including installation, connectivity, and print quality issues.
• Maintain printer supplies and coordinate repairs when necessary.
4. Postage Machine and Manufacturer Support:
• Manage postage machine functionality and troubleshoot issues.
• Liaise with manufacturer tech support for complex problems or maintenance requirements.
Additional Responsibilities for Mid-Level Personnel:
5. VxRail Re-setup Project:
• Collaborate in the re-setup project for VxRail infrastructure.
• Ensure the efficient and secure configuration of VxRail systems.
6. VoIP Phone Setup:
• Assist users in setting up VoIP phones, resolving configuration issues, and optimizing phone system performance.
• Collaborate with telecom providers for advanced issues.
7. Managing Technical Issues and Feature Requests:
• Act as an intermediary between users and cloud software service providers' tech support.
• Handle technical issues, escalate problems as needed, and facilitate feature requests.
• Coordinate with Central Square's Community Development and Tyler Technologies's New World support teams.
Qualifications:
For Junior Position:
o High school diploma or equivalent.
o Basic understanding of desktop hardware and software components.
o Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
For Mid-Level Position:
o Associate's degree or higher in a related field (e.g., IT, Computer Science).
o Proven experience with VxRail systems, VoIP phone systems, and cloud software support.
o Advanced technical troubleshooting skills.
o Ability to manage complex technical issues and communicate effectively with service providers and end-users.
Preferred:
• Local candidates residing in the East Bay Area.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician).
