Position Summary:

The Corporate Director of Emory Healthcare Innovation is a pivotal leadership role responsible for spearheading the development and implementation of innovative healthcare solutions. This position requires a unique blend of strategic vision, healthcare expertise, and a passion for transformative change. The Corporate Director will lead the innovation in identifying, developing, and integrating cutting-edge technologies and practices to enhance patient care, improve healthcare delivery, and foster a culture of innovation within Emory Healthcare and the Woodruff Health Sciences Center. The Corporate Director will work to ensure healthcare innovation initiatives produce learnings that are reproducible and coordinate resources across Emory University that support Emory faculty and staff in innovation projects. This position has a dual reporting structure to the Chief Strategy Officer of Emory Healthcare/Woodruff Health Sciences Center and the Chief Technology Officer of Emory Healthcare/ Emory Digital. The incumbent will have direct and indirect lines of staff within both executives organizational structure to ensure innovation efforts are identified, curated and executed. The Corporate Director will also be responsible for visualizing an Emory Innovation Center space to showcase solutions and vendors that embody the innovation goals and success to showcase to the organization and others outside of Emory Healthcare.

Major Responsibilities

Develop and articulate a clear, forward-thinking vision for the innovation that aligns with Emory Healthcare¿s strategic goals.
Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive innovation strategy, identifying key areas for growth and development.
Be the EHC internal champion for the innovation. Identify, suggest, design and implement activities and programs that will ensure the functional area is fulfilling the Emory Healthcare innovation mandate and promoting the Emory Healthcare Innovation Center as an interdisciplinary entity.
Oversee the identification, evaluation, and development of new healthcare technologies, systems, and practices. Works closely with the Director of Enterprise Architecture within Emory Digital to ensure potential new technologies solutions align with Emory¿s enterprise capability model and architecture framework.
Foster external partnerships with technology companies, academic institutions, and other relevant organizations to drive innovation. Develop and curate Emory¿s relationship with (url removed) to ensure a pipeline of potential vendor partnerships and innovation efforts can be executed and scaled in the enterprise.
Advise on areas in which innovation can be used to enhance value within Emory Healthcare. Assist senior leadership of Emory Healthcare in identifying experiences, partnerships, and collaborations outside of Emory.
Identify commercial opportunities and help direct the commercialization of care delivery innovations at Emory. These opportunities could be concepts derived from the innovation center within Emory that will be marketed and sold outside the organization, or ingesting of ideas, partnership and concepts from outside partners to execute a solution to scale for Emory¿s enterprise.
Build and manage a multidisciplinary team of professionals, providing guidance and mentorship to foster a culture of innovation and excellence. Ensure all dotted line resources across Emory Digital areas are engaged to execute innovation activities.
Encourage a collaborative environment where open communication, creative thinking, and a patient-centric approach are paramount.
Engage faculty, staff, and students to enroll in a new innovation talent/interest database.
Ensure the effective management of the innovation resources, including budgeting, staffing, and project management.
Establish and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Emory innovation including cross-campus partnerships to ensure the adoption of innovation.
Implement robust processes for tracking progress and measuring the impact of innovative initiatives on patient care and operational efficiency.
Serve as the primary liaison between the external Innovation Center sponsors, partners, and funders with the internal Emory ecosystem including the Office of Technology Transfer, Library Information Technology Services, Emory Digital leadership, and clinicians and operational leaders as appropriate.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for innovation initiatives.
Promote and support research activities related to healthcare innovation.
Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in healthcare innovation.
Ensure all innovation activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
Working closely with Emory Digital, lead an internal RFP process to solicit proposals for innovation projects from Emory faculty and staff.
Conceptualize, plan and execute an Innovation Center space for Emory to showcase the concepts, partnerships and solutions derived from innovation efforts.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Training:
Master¿s degree.
Advanced degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Medicine, or a related field strongly preferred.

Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in healthcare, with a significant focus on innovation, technology, and leadership. Background managing complex projects required. Experience with corporate partners and academic collaborations strongly preferred.

Skills:
Outstanding initiative and ability to work independently and solve problems creatively.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Ability to set priorities among multiple tasks.
Strong organizational skills.
Demonstrated managerial skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
Strong understanding of the healthcare industry, including clinical practices, healthcare technology, and system operations.
Proven track record of developing and implementing successful innovation strategies.
