Responsibilities:
The Patient Responsibility Representative is responsible for ensuring that there is a current insurance verification on file and completing an excel spreadsheet with CPT codes that is ordered by the physician to calculate an accurate PR (patient responsibility) for the patient’s upcoming appointment.

 

Verify insurance either using online portals or over the phone and update the patients chart accurately and completely.

Speak with patients about balances owed or future financial responsibility for services.

Communicate directly with patients regarding patient responsibility and insurance verifications.

Completing excel spreadsheet with patient’s responsibility based off of the insurance verification.

Read clinical notes and orders from patients’ chart in order to complete the patient responsibility.

Maintain the confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with UVVC policies, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and other applicable laws and regulations. PHI is a top priority of our organization.

Qualifications:
1-3 years’ experience with verifying insurances either using online portals or over the phone.

Experience with patient collections and is comfortable speaking with patients about balances owed or future financial responsibility for services.

Strong customer service skills required.

Proficiency in Excel.

Exposure to eCW (eClinicalWorks) is a plus.

Must be able to read and interpret clinical notes and orders from Physicians.
