The ideal candidate would have previous insurance verification and authorization experience with knowledge of the various payor and eligibility websites.

Essential Functions:
The Insurance Verification & Authorization Specialist is responsible for verifying patient's insurance coverage and obtaining authorization for requested services, ensuring that claims will be processed correctly, and handling insurance-related inquiries. The Insurance Verification & Authorization Specialist communicates with insurance companies, patients and health care providers to obtain necessary information and resolve issues related to insurance coverage. The Insurance Verification & Authorization Specialist may function as a billing specialist and will follow uniform billing procedures and practices according to Medicare, Medicaid, 3rd party payers, and private pay in accordance with the HIM-11 guidelines.

Qualifications:
A heart to serve patients and families and a passion for providing the best possible care

Education: Associate Degree preferred

Experience: 2-3 year’s of insurance verification/authorization in an appropriate clinical care setting or hospice environment preferred. HCHB experience preferred.
