Ping Recreation Center in managing the 168,000 square foot recreation center. This position will work with student facility, maintenance, fitness and reservation staff to ensure efficient operations and engagement in all areas in the recreation center. This Graduate Assistant will develop transferable and leadership skills by working with a team of Campus Recreation Professionals and peer Graduate Assistants to drive the mission and vision of the Well-Being and Recreation department at Ohio University.Job Responsibilities:• Assist in overseeing the facility operations including, but not limited to personnel, maintenance and risk management.• Plan, organize, and implement Student Safety Team• Mentor and assist in the development of student staff through trainings and meetings.• Assist with facility and student schedules to ensure facility coverage.• Serve as a first responder during facility emergencies.• Serve as a vital contributor to the Well-Being and Recreation staff, attending all department and division meetings and training.Job ProfileDuties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:Engages with students and contributes to the growth and development of various aspects of the Ohio University experience, including student engagement, student leadership, student conduct, well-being and recreation, academic success, and campus life. Responsibilities may include supporting student government, developing student fitness and recreation programs, coordinating student events, providing student academic support, and providing administrative support to departments across the University.Level SummaryProvides specialized assistance in academic or administrative tasks, leveraging advanced knowledge in a particular subject area. Supports faculty, researchers, or departments in a variety of ways.Supervisory Responsibilities:May supervise undergraduate students.Fiscal Responsibilities:May assist in managing small budgets for research projects or departmental activities.Problem Solving:Handles complex, field-specific problems that require critical thinking and independent analysis. May require guidance for highly specialized or unfamiliar tasks, but able to handle day-to-day challenges independently.Independence of Action:Works independently on assigned tasks but may consult with faculty or staff for major decisions.Communication and Collaboration:Regular communication with faculty, supervisors, and peers. Collaborates with academic and administrative peers, faculty, and staff and participates in meetings or discussions to further research or projects. May interact with students, colleagues, or clients in academic settings.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree required. Must be a graduate student currently enrolled in an Ohio University academic program. Must have strong research, writing, and communication skills.Preferred Qualifications• Creative thinker with strong communication and project management experience• High level of professionalism in dealing with customers, professional staff, and student employees• Demonstrate the willingness and ability to lead and learn• Experience supervising a team or group of staff• Proficient computer skills as well as strong written and oral communication skills• Position requires an average of 20 hours a week - includes office hours, meetings, and trainings• Experience in facility operations, maintenance, equipment upkeep.Working Condition/Physical Demands:This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers.
