Job Title: Workforce Development Manager
Classification: Full-time
Reports To: Program Director
The Groundwork Kitchen Workforce Development Manager executes day-to-day operations related to student recruitment, job placement and partnership management for the training program. With a focus on equity, they also engage in strategic employer outreach, identifying food service job opportunities, creating employment pipelines and supporting quality job placements for all Groundwork Kitchen graduates.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Student Recruitment: (30%)
- Promotes the training program to potential applicants and referral partner agencies to meet enrollment goals.
- Maintains detailed and organized records of outreach activities and communication with referral partners.
- Engages referral partner agencies to build a robust pipeline of potential students.
- Presents program information, requirements for enrollment, and application instructions by phone, email, remote meeting and in-person to referral partners and prospective students at weekly information sessions.
- Is the primary contact for applicants and referral partners throughout the enrollment process.
- When necessary, assists applicants who lack digital access with completing the application process.
- Maintains detailed and organized intake records and tracks applicant status in ETO database to develop and maintain a pipeline of eligible program applicants.
- Collaborates with Training and Student Support teams to ensure student enrollment is in linewith program goals.
Job Development & Partnership Management (30%)
- Serves as primary point-of-contact for existing and potential employer partners
- Collaborates with Training and Student Support teams to ensure outreach strategy aligns with program goals.
- Communicates with the Student Support team as needed regarding student and alumni access to services to support job placement and retention outcomes.
- Builds and maintain employer relationships through active outreach with the goal of increasing employer engagement: generating job placement and interview opportunities for students
- Seeks employer feedback and expectations to help inform job training curriculum and job placement/retention strategy
- Maintains detailed and organized records of employer contacts, outreach activities and job opportunities in an electronic database and/or spreadsheets.
- Partners with the Paul's Place Inc. Development team to ensure a holistic approach to identifying and stewarding employer partner relationships
Job Placement (40%)
- Uses a strengths-based approach to collaborate with students to identify the best fit of food service career paths and set short- and long-term goals
- Identifies and shares promising job opportunities that will help graduates move towards increased economic opportunity
- Collaborates with other team members to engage alumni through regular engagement activities
- Assists students and alumni with job placement and re-employment via group and 1-on-1 meetings, which may include coaching and/or teaching job search strategy, job applications, resume preparation, interview preparation, career planning, job retention, etc.
- Discusses students' short and long-term career goals to inform program's strategic efforts to support students in various career pursuits (supporting entrepreneurship, mapping pathways to management, etc.)

Qualifications
Education: BA, BS in related field (or 4 years of equivalent work experience) required.
Experience: Experience in the food service industry is strongly preferred. Food service management experience preferred.
3 years of experience coaching or training adults in food service, hospitality, human services or related field. Experience working with individuals experiencing housing instability or food insecurity required.

● Experience with coaching experience. Demonstrated ability to be part of a training team.

employment required.
● Track record of constituent responsiveness, professionalism, and thoroughness.
● Documented work experience successfully managing, coaching and training food service
employees to acquire new skills and advance in their careers
● Articulates knowledge and understanding of structural causes of poverty, unemployment and homelessness; ability to relate to students by articulating lived experience overcoming structural barriers to employment is a plus
● Builds rapport quickly and establishes trusting relationships especially across lines of difference, such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, ability, gender identity, citizenship status, or other identities
● Communicates effectively: listens to understand others' needs or concerns and shows initiative to address them; provides clear, helpful information verbally and in writing; delivers a consistent message to different audiences
● Effectively and compassionately manages conflict; focuses on solutions
● Relentlessly perseveres despite obstacles; thinks critically, breaking down problems into manageable pieces
● Readily identifies and applies ethical principles to their work including professional boundaries, conflicts of interest, confidentiality; reflects on own biases and/or triggers, acknowledges mistakes and turns them into learning opportunities
● Confidence using or excitement about learning to master Google Suite, Microsoft Office programs, ETO and other widely utilized software applications
Schedule:
Work will be performed primarily in-person. Groundwork Kitchen Training Program will operate from
Monday – Friday between 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
