Job Summary
The Technical Architect possesses and demonstrates broad knowledge, skills, and competencies in multiple areas of technology, and, with the Technical Services Manager, assumes overall responsibility for CHOC's IT Strategic Plan as exhibited by the development of hardware and software/OS system standards. Works closely with ISD management to assure availability of appropriate technical resources for approved projects, and toward compliance to appropriate project planning methodologies. Works in collaboration with the CHOC Security personnel toward assuring the safety and security of CHOC's infrastructure and data, and toward assuring compliance to security and privacy regulatory requirements. Serves as technical liaison between CHOC, SJO, SJHS, Perot, and Mission for network issues, as well as coordination with CHOC Space Planning for organizational planning and moves.

Pay Range
Minimum $127,442 Midpoint $168,854 Maximum $210,267

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Experience

  • Required: Minimum three (3) years of experience with multiple network infrastructure technologies/tools, & with Novell & Windows servers/OS. Experience & managing multiple projects.
  • Preferred: Five (5) years experience with firewalls, UPS systems, wireless & remote access, IT Management tools, Email, Citrix. One (1) years in healthcare network environment & with large scale projects. Education Description: College degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or commensurate equivalent.

Education

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or commensurate equivalent. Equivalent work experience may considered in lieu of education.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science.

Training

  • Required: Network design & technologies, network management, project management, personnel management, finance & budgeting.
  • Preferred: Emerging technologies. PMP Certified, Novell Certified Netware Engineer (CNE), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Novell Advanced System Administration, Novell NDS, Microsoft TCPIP, DNS, DHCP, Windows 2000, 2003 & 2008.

Specialized Skills

  • Required: Strong verbal & written communication, project implementation & troubleshooting skills. Experience leading new site set-ups, major moves & major projects such as desktop, server & infrastructure upgrades. Broad knowledge of network infrastructure, protocols & multiple server based networks, operating systems, storage area networks, Internet firewall and security protocols, in an integrated, multi-facility organization, proven successful supervisory & project management capabilities. Excellent leadership & teamwork skills, oral & written communication skills. Care with sensitivity and respect; advance care through development of new ideas and technology.
  • Preferred: Experience with the Joint Commission, HIPAA & security related network initiatives, Disaster Recovery, PACs & with clinical, financial & business health care systems such as Cerner & Lawson.

  • Required: None required.
