Utilize your expertise while growing your career as a Senior Grants Accountant at our Venice Family Clinic. In this key role, you will receive guidance and direction from the Director of Audits & Grants Administration and will work with our Finance & Accounting team who manage the accounting for the Organization's portfolio, which has more than $14M in government grants and contracts. As a Senior Accountant, you will perform accounting for grants and contracts including private donor and government funded grants, reconcile monthly statements to budgets, assist with preparing budgets and audits, and prepare financial reports, invoices and forecasts for awarding agencies and management. After completing training/probation, this position offers a fixed hybrid schedule (requires 2 days of work on-site per week).

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the accounting of Federal, State, County and private grant budgets and contracts, code and track expenditures, complete analyses and reports, and communicate status to program managers to ensure compliance with grant agreements.
  • Reconciling the program/grant general ledgers and preparing necessary corrections to ensure proper month-end close and compliance with all GAAP, Federal OMB, grant/contract standards, and guidelines.
  • Compiling fiscal information to be used to prepare annual budgets, financial reports, editing drafts, collaborating with program managers and grant writers and gathering all the information necessary for submission.
  • Responsible for Time and Effort reporting; review and prepare necessary journal entries for salary distribution adjustments.
  • Collaboration with the Grants Team, Program Directors and Coordinators on budget planning, grant proposals, analysis, modifications and contract/grant matching.
  • Leading various analyses to support management in making effective decisions and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Coordinating and supporting audits/reviews and site visits by sponsoring agencies and independent auditors, preparation of contract and grant related schedules and A-133 audit requests.
  • Demonstrating skill in analyzing information, problems, practices, or procedures and develop workable solutions to problems when answers are not readily available.
    Participating in meetings, reporting and projects as needed.

Salary Range: $70, $145,200.00 Annually

Senate Bill 525 was signed into law by Governor Newsom in October 2023. Starting July 1, 2025, SB525 sets a new $24 minimum wage for nonexempt healthcare workers and raises the exempt employee salary threshold to $1,440/week (equivalent to $6,240/month or $74,880/year).

  • As defined under SB525, healthcare workers are defined as employees who are involved in the provision of "health care services," which means "patient care-related services including nursing; caregiving; services provided by medical residents, interns, or fellows; technical and ancillary services; janitorial work; housekeeping; grounds keeping; guard duties; business office clerical work; food services; laundry; medical coding and billing; call center and warehouse work; scheduling; and giftshop work; but only where such services support patient care".
  • Employees (career, contract, student, per diem) in the UCLA Health medical facilities (e.g. Ronald Reagan Medical Center, Santa Monica UCLA Hospital, Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, etc.) meet these criteria.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
  • At least 3 years of accounting work experience with progressive responsibilities and experience working within a healthcare organization.
  • Fund or Not-for-Profit accounting experience, and demonstrated work experience managing multiple government funded programs/accounting.
  • Advanced Excel Skills, including Pivot Tables, V-Lookups and Logic Functions.
  • Experience using Accounting Software (i.e. Sage Intacct, MAS 90, NetSuite, Oracle, etc.)
  • Possess accuracy/precision in math, strong analytical skills, organization skills, ability to work independently and function as a team player, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Able to analyze and clearly communicate complex issues verbally and in writing.
