Northland Controls is seeking a Product Manager.

The mission of the Product Manager is to guide products that create value for customers and the business through strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and disciplined execution. This role bridges technical expertise, project management, and customer insight to ensure innovative, scalable, and reliable products that align with business strategy and client needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of product management, project management, operations, or related experience (non-software environment preferred).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with physical systems, technical service offerings, or operational products.

  • Experience in security systems, hardware-based solutions, or service-based industries.

  • Familiarity with supply chain, manufacturing, or customer deployment environments.
  • Ability to translate customer needs into actionable product requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and maintain a clear product map aligned with organizational objectives and market needs.
  • Conduct competitive analysis, market research, and customer interviews to identify opportunities and guide product decisions.
  • Define product value propositions, positioning, and key differentiators.
  • Build business cases to support new product initiatives or improvements.

Product Lifecycle Management

  • Manage the full lifecycle of physical or service-based products—from initial concept through launch, updates, and end-of-life.
  • Gather, evaluate, and prioritize product requirements based on customer needs, operational capabilities, and strategic goals.
  • Create and maintain product documentation including specifications, use cases, and release plans.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Sales, and Service teams to ensure product readiness, quality, and consistent delivery.
  • Provide product training and enablement to internal teams and external partners.
  • Act as the subject matter expert, supporting Sales in customer engagements when necessary.

Execution & Delivery

  • Oversee product development activities related to physical systems, technical solutions, hardware integration, or service offerings.
  • Ensure product launch readiness by managing timelines, deliverables, and communications.
  • Evaluate project risks, escalate issues proactively, and support solutions for successful execution.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor product performance through KPIs such as profitability, adoption, customer satisfaction, quality metrics, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to refine or enhance existing products and processes.
  • Use customer feedback and data to guide ongoing product improvements.
