Nevada City, California, United States Camp Augusta Full time

Office Assistant & Activities Facilitator

Location: Nevada City, California (onsite housing provided)

Position Type: Full-time, seasonal

Pay & Dates: $5,000-7,000 (depending on experience and responsibilities) for May 12th-August 8th [required dates]

Work available April 1st-September 20th.

Benefits: Fresh organic food, rustic housing, standard living expenses, paid training, and numerous perks

As an Office Assistant at Camp Augusta, you will be an essential part of the camp's operation, ensuring that proper coordination between camp, parents, and families is happening. You'll gain hands-on experience in office management, coordination, program management, communication, and customer service.

In addition to standard office work, 3-5 hours of your day are typically spent facilitating clinics (we train you), engaging in programs with campers and staff, and running unique experiences. You'll balance an office day with daily magic of summer camp

This position is a great fit for someone seeking experience (or an internships) that blends office administration with a dynamic, outdoor-focused community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Office Coordination: Coordinate with the office team to process daily office operations, including phone calls, emails, and communications with parents, staff, and visitors.
  • Customer Service: Be the friendly and professional voice of Camp Augusta - handling inquiries, solving problems, and providing support to families and staff.
  • Record Keeping & Organization: Maintain camper and staff records, handle paperwork, and manage camp databases using spreadsheets and other tools.
  • Teaching Activities: In addition to office duties, you will have the opportunity to teach one or two activities daily, sharing your skills and energy with campers.
  • Camper Engagement: Engage with campers in our outdoor dining area and play in our immersive evening programs and unique story experiences. (more on our website)

Minimum requirements

  • Must be at least 19 years old by June 1st, 2026
  • Must be available during our summer dates: from May 12th to August 8th 2026 (if within a couple days, inquire)
  • Ability to commit to 60 total hours of pre-arrival onboarding - this often looks like 5-8 hours of pre-camp onboarding work a week from when you are hired to when you arrive, and maintain open and prompt communication about that work

Ideal Candidate: To be successful in this role, you'll need to be comfortable multitasking, working in a fast-paced environment, and maintaining a positive, service-oriented attitude. This includes:

  • Strong Communication Skills: Able to speak clearly and professionally with a variety of stakeholders (parents, campers, staff).
  • Organized & Detail-Oriented: Ability to manage paperwork, schedules, and databases accurately and efficiently.
  • Customer-Focused: A passion for helping others and creating positive experiences.
  • Team Player: You enjoy collaborating with a diverse team to accomplish common goals.
  • Flexible & Adaptable: Able to switch between office tasks and teaching activities, with a positive attitude.
  • Interest in Outdoor Community Living: While your primary role is in the office, you'll be immersed in the outdoor, camp-focused community and lifestyle.

What You'll Get In a Summer at Camp Augusta

  • $5000-$7000 salary, with all food and living expenses covered; walk away having saved a summer's worth of spending money.
  • 3+ Certifications in first aid, CPR, and lifeguarding (optional) - ~$400 value, included
  • Unforgettable memories with a community of 75 lifelong friends from around the world (~35% international) you can visit and stay connected with.
  • Summer in California Many staff spend time on days off and post-camp exploring the area (Reno and Lake Tahoe are 1.5 hours drive)
  • 400+ hours of paid staff training - the equivalent of 2 accredited courses in education / psychology (the curriculums were run / accredited at a University). You'll learn & live skills like:
  • Nonviolent Communication for fostering empathy and resolving conflicts\
  • Flat Hierarchy and Sociocracy to support decision-making and community-building
  • Emotional Intelligence and Humanistic Behavior Management philosophies to apply internally and with others
  • Group facilitation and guiding children through deep, emotional experiences
