We are seeking an experienced Litigation Support Manager to lead our paralegal and legal assistant teams, oversee litigation workflow, manage operations, and develop comprehensive training systems across the firm.

Position Summary

The Litigation Support Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for managing the firm's litigation support operations, supervising a large team of paralegals and legal assistants, and developing training programs for new and existing staff. This role requires strong California civil litigation experience, proven team management capabilities, and the ability to optimize workflows in a modern, high-volume, remote law firm.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned litigation professional who excels at both people management and process development.

Key Responsibilities

Litigation Support Team Management

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of 15–20 paralegals, legal assistants, and litigation support staff
  • Work with the in-house training department to develop internal training curriculum related to California civil procedure, drafting standards, workflows, and best practices
  • Review and quality-check paralegal and legal assistant work for accuracy, compliance, and formatting
  • Assign tasks, balance workloads, manage productivity metrics, and monitor deadlines
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide structured feedback
  • Implement standardized procedures, checklists, and workflow systems across the firm

Training & Development

  • Design, develop, and implement training programs for paralegals and legal assistants
  • Create written guides, templates, SOPs, and training materials
  • Lead onboarding and ongoing continuing education for litigation support staff
  • Develop training on:
  • Litigation workflows
  • File organization
  • Drafting and formatting standards
  • Lawmatics and cloud-based systems
  • Deadline and calendar management
  • Evaluate, refine, and update training programs based on team performance and workflow needs

Office & Operations Management

  • Oversee daily administrative and operational functions of a remote litigation firm
  • Maintain and optimize firm-wide calendars, workflows, and case pipelines
  • Ensure cloud-based file systems and the Lawmatics database remain organized and up to date
  • Manage onboarding/offboarding of support staff and update access permissions
  • Assist with vendor coordination, billing support, reporting, and policy rollout
  • Collaborate with firm leadership to improve efficiency and operational consistency

Litigation Support (Mid-Level Capacity)

  • Draft and review litigation documents, including:
  • Complaints, answers, demurrers, motions, oppositions, replies, and CMC statements
  • Discovery requests and responses
  • Subpoenas and deposition scheduling documents
  • Manage service of process, proofs of service, and litigation calendars
  • Prepare case chronologies, deposition summaries, and trial binders
  • Assist with hearings, mediations, expert coordination, and settlement preparation

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of California civil litigation paralegal team lead or management experience
  • Must have supervised or managed a staff of 15–20 paralegals, legal assistants, or litigation support personnel
  • Experience developing training programs or standard operating procedures
  • Strong knowledge of the CCP, California Rules of Court, and local county rules
  • Proven ability to lead a remote support team in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build workflows and implement operational improvements
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and time-management abilities
  • Proficiency with cloud-based legal document and case management systems
  • Reliable remote work setup and stable internet connection
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program
  • Experience in:

  • Experience building templates, checklists, and training materials
  • Prior leadership experience in a remote-first or high-volume litigation firm
